The GSIC Testing Lab has carried out a validation test of Tennis ComStat, a video analysis platform for tennis, during a high-level match at Club de Tenis Valencia.
The aim was to assess how well the solution captures, processes and delivers performance insights in a real competitive environment.
Warsaw-based Tennis ComStat turns match video, filmed on a phone or taken from platforms such as PlaySight, into data a coach can work with.
A mix of AI tracking and manual review by analysts tags every rally, producing serve and return statistics, shot patterns and rally lengths linked to the video of each point, with a target turnaround of 24 hours.
Testing in a competitive match rather than in training shows whether a system holds up at real match pace, where points are faster and less predictable.
Club de Tenis Valencia, founded in 1905 and host of the Copa Faulconbridge ATP Challenger 175, provided the setting.
The test is part of a wider effort by the club and GSIC to try out match analysis tools. The Testing Lab has also validated Kicknote, which the club went on to use to record and analyse every match of the Máster Nacional RPT-MARCA at its facilities.
"Real-world testing is key because it lets us see the technology in action and gather evidence of the value it brings. Projects like this also bring innovation to clubs and give more and more players, whatever their level, access to tools that until recently were reserved for elite sport" said Eduard Castell, EMEA Testing Lab Lead at GSIC.
"At the club we want to stay close to new technologies and see first-hand what they can bring to tennis.Testing these tools at our own facilities lets us judge how useful they really are and how they can help players and coaches in their daily work. Our goal is to bring in the solutions that offer a concrete benefit to the development of our sport" - Ole Andresen, President of Club de Tenis Valencia.
Tennis technology was also discussed at GSIC Summit Valencia, where Alejandro de Gabriel, Operations Director of Club de Tenis Valencia, joined representatives of the USTA and other professionals on a panel.
The GSIC Testing Lab gives startups and sports technology companies access to real-world testing, working with 58 sports federations and with public facilities and clubs across the Valencia region.
It operates with the support of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Ajuntament de València and València Innovation Capital.
