Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi), a US-based quantum optics and integrated photonics company listed on Nasdaq (QUBT), has joined the Global Sports Innovation Center powered by Microsoft (GSIC), bringing expertise in quantum computing, photonics, sensing and secure communications to the GSIC ecosystem.
QCi develops technologies designed to operate at room temperature with relatively low power requirements. Its portfolio spans photonic components, subsystems and full-stack systems, with applications across high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced sensing and imaging.
Within sport, QCi sees opportunities to apply its technologies to several operational and performance challenges. Its Dirac-3 analog quantum optimization machine is designed to solve complex optimization problems, creating potential applications in areas such as competition scheduling, travel efficiency, logistics and crowd-flow analysis.
The company also develops NeuraWave, a photonic reservoir computing system suited to high-speed time-series analysis and AI-at-the-edge applications. Potential sports use cases include physiological signal analysis, performance analytics and data-intensive racing applications. Other technologies in QCi’s portfolio include its uQRNG quantum random number generator and Quantum Photonic Vibrometer, which could support statistical modelling, materials analysis and the detection of anomalies in sports surfaces or equipment.
By joining GSIC, QCi becomes part of a global sports innovation ecosystem focused on connecting real industry needs with relevant technologies and creating pathways for business conversations, testing, validation and collaboration.
QCi has also expressed its interest in working closely with end users to develop future applications, opening opportunities to explore how quantum and photonic technologies could address emerging challenges across sports operations, analytics, athlete performance and fan-facing experiences.
